It was in the cup holder, and I hit a bump and a little splashed on the i drive controller. Apparently that is all it took because now it doesn't work... I have an appointment on the 24th, you think they will give me a hard time?

Nope. If they do, try popping it out, and disassemble it and clean it, might do the trick. Didn't know you were serious about making engine block bacon and eggs, you must have spilled your coffee while dining....

There's a DIY out there for idrive retrofit that'll show you how to take console apart.

worst case they are about 100 to 200 bucks used on ebay.

i replaced mine a couple of weeks ago due to a failed firmware update on it.

On the first day I had my m3 I had some sweet tea spill. Fortunately it was very watered down and only hit the floor mat. However, based on the fact the cup holders have to be the least functional cup holders ever devised I've decided to forego drinks in my m3. Hope you get it fixed with as little pain as possible.

It's a fairly simple DIY to swap out the controller if you are mechanically inclined.

Yeah but obviously I would rather get it done under warranty..

I feel like the previous owner of my car spilled a drink over the right most buttons on my climate control. They get stuck in so easily and I have to pry them out with my fingers. So frustrating

Mine is more cosmetic. The surrounding silver material is peeling. I'm hoping BMW will take care of it.

They will refuse the service. I had this happen to the preset buttons on my dash due to the horrible cup holder design.

Component cleaner (available in a spray can) from Radio Shack should losen it up and clean it out without much fuss.
