Favorite Nomex Balaclava?

I don't generally worry much about fire in a DE setting but a balaclava seems like an inexpensive just-in-case.

So do you guys have a favorite? I was thinking the sparco x-cool or carmyth?

I have a Sparco and an OMP. They're both fine.

Thesis what happens when you watch RUSH. Check the fire ratings and you should be ok.

I've actually yet to see it. Maybe I'll watch it and order a fire suppression system. :-)

You definitely won't want to drive the Nurburgring in the rain after watching it

meh. BTDT. Drove the A-1 ring in a downpour. Nasty. Stay off the paint and the dry line or it is drifting or ice-dancing time...

The main benefit for using a balaclava for an HPDE is that you keep your helmet cleaner and drier. Buy two. One for Saturday. One for Sunday. Your sense of smell will thank you. Delicate wash, line dry.

If you are worried about a fire and want to protect yourself on the cheap, wear all cotton clothing, non-leather natural fiber shoes (leather shrinks in a fire, enough to break bones in your feet), and race gloves so you can grab hot parts of the car and get yourself out.

Nomex socks just feel nasty to wear. Be warned...
