Picking up my 2014 X5 tomorrow
its fully loaded, but I've never bought a BMW before.
Can anyone provide some sort of checklist I need to perform when looking at the car and signing off? I got the 599M wheels, so I'll make sure that they throw in the stock 19". Thanks in advance |

Congrats! Welcome to the 50i + 599M family.
There's a checklist floating around here somewhere you can use. For me, I make sure the window sticker matches everything I ordered. I do several walks around the car to ensure the exterior is in perfect condition. Same for the interior. Then I make sure all of the functionality works. After, quick drive to ensure all is sound like no rattles, etc. It's all common sense. You're taking delivery of something expensive so I treat it as such. Any imperfection I note and work with the dealer to resolve. What's your build?

I did not know you can get the stock wheels as well if you order the optional wheels.

The optional wheels are not currently available as an accessory (or at least they weren't last week). So he likely just purchased them separately.
Normally you will not get the stock wheels if you order accessory wheels for VPC/pre-delivery installation.

Well
I purchased the 599M seperately , so i confirmed with my dealer that the 19" stock would be given to me.
Now, what I'm going to do with them...I have no idea |

I'm not thrilled with them. Pain in the ass to clean and I think they might be a bit too soft ultimately.
I'm considering going back to HRE.

I had my car coated with Opticoat Pro by an aftermarket detailer. Took him around 10 hours including the wheels. It has rained on/off in the last week and the car still looks like it has come out of the showroom. If anything a bit better as there was some subtle scratches I didn't see until the detailer pointed them out. And this is on white paint. A chart on the difference between coatings (including Opticoat and Ceramic Pro) http://www.optimumcarcare.com.au/pro...rotection.html Opticoat should be available int the US I imagine. But just be careful as there is a watered down version which anyone can use but it isn't as effective. As for tire protection are you talking about tire/rim insurance ? If so, there are probably better aftermarket options. Saved about $300 by doing this. |

P.S. I do not know how much you gonna spend, but I was told that full car will cost: 500 EUR exterior(full, including glass, plastic parts, wheels) + 160 interior(full as well). |

I had opticoat applied to my X5 by my detailer and it sparkles but to be honest I think that Matrix nanocoating looks much deeper in terms of making the paint shine. I had this coating applied to my Turbo back in 2007. This is what it looked like when it was first applied.
And 7 years later, I've never ever had to apply wax, it still looks awesome and water beads like nobody's business. This is what my X5 looks like after Opticoat was applied |
