Color options with M package

Does anyone here know what BMW's policy is on paint color "over rides"?

I would like to order a X5 with the M package in the Sparkling Brown Metallic.

I know Audi has an option of producing any vehicle in any color they ever used. It's not cheap but it can be done.

Anyone here know BMW's stand on this?

I've heard & seen a custom color done on an 2013 F10 535i. I believe BMW charged approximately an additional $5,000 to do this.

I asked when I ordered my vehicle and was told that BMW Individual options are available on the F15 but not as elaborate as some other vehicles. The factory doesn't have access to the myriad of paint options available on vehicles built in Europe. Nor does it have a separate line where vehicles with Individual paint options are actually painted before rejoining the main line.

Ask you dealer to inquire about this. It may or may not be a possibility, but likelihood of getting that color with M Sport is probably not an option.

According to a phone conversation with Individual/M GmbH earlier this year, all Individual options will be available starting August 2014.

I do plan on posing this question to the dealer. But, I have found in the past, depending on who ya talk to, you get different answers.

It all depends on how motivated they are.

I'd search and find a dealer that is used to doing Individual customization. For example, Greg Poland at Pacific BMW or Century West BMW in LA. You can always order the car from them and then do a courtesy delivery to a BMW store near you.
