Scissor lift experience

Am thinking of buying a lift from these guys:
http://www.ezcarlift.com/

There was an old thread that mentioned them from a couple of years ago (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...or#post9673917), but was wondering if anyone else has experience with them?

My friend got one and I helped him put it together. It's pretty good, the hammer drill method to lift it is kinda weird at first but he got used to it

I would recommend it

Looks easy to me, and the portability would be helpful to some. For the price, you can buy a 2 post lift that will go all the way up, which is what I did.

There is a cheaper quick low lift version that does not go up quite as high for half the price, but the 4000 lb model is not out yet (it is coming):

^ Waiting forever for bendpak to make a version that will fit cars with jack points longer than 50 inches.
Cheaper and no cross bar (unlike ezcarlift) in the middle that might get in the way of some things

Looks like the 5000lb model is out for $1295, anyone using it in their garage on their M?

The quick jack looks interesting, anyone try it yet?

I'm planning on getting the bendpak and storing it on the floor in my truck's parking space (truck has plenty of ground clearance to drive over it stacked on top of itself.

The 5000lb model maxes out at 50.5" between the jacking points and my M3 is almost exactly 50", really more like 49 centerline to centerline. So no unnatural acts necessary to make it work

My garage is in the lower level with living space above, more than 1000sf but not much headroom.

I bought the 5,000 lb model (BL-5000) last week and set it up on Saturday with a friend (forum member Dogbone). Took about 2 hours from unpacking to lifting, being very precise with everything. Once done, plugged it in, lined it up under the jack points and it worked like a champ. I raised the car the full 24" and left it there overnight, no leaking, no issues. Only complaint is that when disconnecting the compression fittings a small amount of ATF fluid leaks from each one (about 1/4 tsp). Not a big deal, but it's important to keep a rag handy because that stuff is slippery!

And what was the cost of the model you purchased? Shipping Cost? Did you order direct or from a distributor?

I ordered from Autozone online because they had a 20% discount running (which I was shocked applied to the lift). After discount the unit was $1,039.99 plus tax ($93.60) and shipping ($100), so total came to $1,233.59. It was drop shipped from the manufacturer.

Pretty good option for low ceiling spaces, my dream is to have a 2-post lift one day.

Does the install require drilling or anchoring into the ground?

No drilling or anchoring as it is designed to be portable. Many race teams take them to the track.

okusa, have you taken this to the track? Will it fit in the trunk, or do you need to have the seats down in the back?

Thinking of getting this in the DC version to facilitate fast tire rotation. Any problems with setup? Seems like you need a lot of time to get it first set up, and parts (teflon tape, air compressor, etc)

I use it at home and at the track so I have the AC. For the track you just need an inverter. It will fit in the car with the seats down, though I trailer so I haven't tried.

Setup takes about 90 minutes but from there it's a piece of cake to use. Only problem at the track is that it's a real attention grabber.

You can change wheels in about 5 minutes with a $59 HF aluminum jack and 18V impact.

I have the ezcarlift because I got it used for 600 bucks and love it. Wish I had room for 2 post lift but make due with it and can't complain. Lift time is slow and can't use it on my x5d because of weight.

If you can swap front to rear in 5 minutes you must have nascar pit crew training.

This would have been handy as hell when I was racing! I don't like jack stands.

I can swap a second set of wheels onto the car in about 5 minutes if I work fast and hard. I would never move my 265/35/18 fronts to the rear and put my 285/35/18 rears in the front. If you are moving front to rear, I agree it would take longer if swapping diagonally. However one jack point may lift the entire side if swapping same side front to rear.

My point was more that I would be done before you even got set up with your fancy portable lift. But I think those lifts are great and would be helpful for doing more involved projects at the track or even in a small garage that lacks the space or height for a real lift. Also as you get older lifts are nice. I got a 2 post 4 or 5 years ago.
