Advised to delay placement of order until April!
I've recently finalised my X5 specification with my dealer and was under the impression that my order was in-progress; the dealer has just advised me that they would prefer to actually place the order after the 5th April. This is due to up-coming specification changes / enhancements so that I will benefit from those changes...does anyone know what changes / enhancements are due since the dealer cannot give me specific details at the moment.
I've heard rumors about additional on-line connectivity features and the possibility of a full black panel instrument panel (like the 5 & 7 series).

I could have delayed my delivery until late May but decided the changes are not something I would wanted so went ahead with my original production of end March and delivery mid/late April. Personal choice I guess. |

I've asked my dealer to establish exactly what the changes are - I'll post here when I get a reply.

In Germany the April 2014 price list has been out for a few weeks now, take a look here:
http://www.bmw.de/dam/brandBM/market...2735395659.pdf And no: no fancy new stuff and no full LCD instrument cluster |

Is that the 'proper' TPMS with individual pressure and temperature readings for each wheel / tyre?

That's good news, thanks for the information - worth waiting until April for I guess though my X5 won't be here until July!

So is the April change based on order date or production date of a car?

I'm not really sure, I assumed it was based on order date since my dealer is holding back until April to order mine though that might not be the case. I'll post an update here when my dealer clarifies the situation later this week.

Yes, I'd noticed that the heated front seats were no longer part of the cold weather package. That option seems to have been changed on the UK on-line configurator over the last week or so. I assume the others will follow suit before the end of March.

As you may have read in the thread linked up here I ordered an April-build car already in January. I do not understand why would you want to hold your order until April? When do you think cars of those who order in March will be build? They will order in March, their cars will be build in April already with the new specs while you will order in April and get your car produced in May or June. This is not what you want. Press your dealer.

I have not checked every option but on my list of quite a few options, only the price of sports gearbox went up by some 60 EUR or so. However, with lane departure becoming standard the overall price for me went down by some 500 EUR when recalculated to post-April config.

Just a word of caution if one is delaying their order for new/standardized features. The above Global Press Release states (not applicable to all markets). If BMW in your country has a specific feature, you may want to double check as we have seen posted in Bimmerpost many inaccuracies.
Hopefully you get what was promised in your country. |
