Battery tender question

So I bought a Deltran battery tender as I got back from a vacation and my car hadent been started in 1.5 weeks and I came home to an almost dead battery as my clock was zeroed out and my date said 12-28-13 (arrived 1-3-14).

My question: I fully charged my battery (green light) and had to disconnect the tender so I could pull my car out of the garage to put up the Christmas tree and pull my car right back in (15 mins) upon pulling it back in I put my car back on the tender and its been back on the charging (red light) for 2 hours now. Is this an indication that my battery may be shot?

No, it doesn't mean the battery is bad.

If it never turns green then it may be bad or the connections may not be making proper contact.

Prior to connecting, I always use a scotch brite pad to scuff the terminals and contact points, turns green for me in a few hours.

Battery woes

My tender always takes an hour or two to go back to green.

Going to dealer again this week to hear their "driving patterns" crap again because I think this battery is shot. It's different now, many dud clicks on EngineStart button before it finally starts. What I do not understand is why I never had these problems the 1st year I owned the car (Oct 2011 through Oct 2012)? Seems much more chronic now. I'm afraid to drive it anywhere where I have to leave it sitting shut down & locked for a long period. Hope new battery cleans it up - even temporarily.

Any truth to the leaving it locked in close proximity to the keys theory?

I don't see why that would matter.

Have the battery tested at an auto parts store for CCA.

My charger does that too. I think two starts with no charging time drains the battery a little.

What is the theory? I think I missed that one.

Thanks

Do you think there is any harm in just leaving the battery tender connected for long periods of time? 1-2 weeks?

Read somewhere that leaving key close to locked car may "keep it awake" / drain battery. SMU…sounds made up though

It'll just top the battery off and not really charge, so you should be fine. These things are really low amperage (if it's same type as mine)

Where I keep my key I can lock/unlock the car but can't use comfort access.
