Are dealers using the new Pentosin CHF202 now?
These cars (and pretty much all BMWs) came with Pentosin CHF11S as their factory-fill power steering fluid. While CHF11S is still available, it has been superseeded by CHF202. Pentosin says it is 100% compatible with CHF11S and can even be mixed.
Are the dealers transitioning to this newer fluid, or are they still on CHF11S? Only significant difference I see is that 202 is a touch thicker at very cold temps (-40 C) and hence has a slight drop in viscosity index. Pour point is also down a bit too, but the ignition point has risen. I have no doubts that it is totally safe to use, but I'm just curious about what the dealers are doing. Oddly the CHF202 carries fewer manufacturer specs but I suspect that's because it's new enough that it hasn't been thoroughly tested. For those curious... Pentosin CHF fluids should not be mixed with ATF fluids"
