Check Engine Light on.....

Add oil warning came up a couple of days ago.... yesterday afternoon I noticed the CEL was on... but with no other warning associated.

System check in idrive shows nothing...

Stopped by the dealer and got a quart of oil added.... CEL still on (altough I dont see how they would be associated)

Any ideas?

Did you double check to make sure your gas cap was on tightly (enough to click). With the emission controls these days, if you (or the attendant) do not tighten the cap enough, you will get this warning light. If that is the case, tighten up the cap and drive it a bit and it will go away.

I once wasted a service visit for this and was more than a bit peeved that they didn't educate the service person making appointments to walk me through this.

I had this problem and the dealer determined something with the lean fuel or mixture?

that was my first thought... CEL is usuall emissions related and the gas cap is always the prime suspect. I will check, but I fuel my own car and am good about putting it on right.

I will double check.

Correct me if I'm wrong but since your car is burning oil it could have done damage to the Catalytic Coverter.

It might reset after you drive it for a while. It happened to a few bmws I've owned.

So do I and so am I, but I have still missed it on occasion. Usually my wife's fault.

I had this issue when running the gas/petrol to Zero miles. I believe it was air in the fuel lines.
