Best way to clean radio controls and air vents?

Hi, the whole radio and controls and its surroundings have that light rubberised crap on them. What is the best way to clean this without rubbing the rubberised stuff off it.

Don't think methylated spirits is the way to go as it will take the rubber off. (Metho is denatured alchahol in the us)

Any help/info would be appreciated.

V.

Have you tried getting a cloth damp with water? I've found that water removes most any of that stuff.

I always had luck with just a damp rag. Sometimes, I'd have a little bit of windex on it and I never saw any changes to the rubber coating of things.

30-40 Q-Tips and a light soap/water mix in a cup. And don't get store brand - less cotton.

A large makeup brush can get in and around controls. Get it a bit damp to pick up more stuff stuck in between.

Yeah, but then you end up with a bunch of concealer in your cd hole...

I like Armor-All wipes. The cleaner wipes, then the protector wipes. I fold the wipes up to clean the vents.

^^^^
after trying tons of stuff before...pretty much any stemmed brush with similar bristles works perfect to get into those little nooks and crannies...haven't tried a makeup brush but it prob would trap even more specs I imagine...will have to try that one...
