I wouldn't if i wanted a sports car. The vette and the 335 are really on two sides of the spectrum. For what you give up on interior fit and finish, you gain in reliability and performance.

Sounds nice, but wouldn't ever get a Chevy. Chevrolet - Cracked heads, every valve rattles, oil leaks every time!

new vette is badass. too bad in a year they'll be all over the place with mid-life crisis owners not driving at even 10% their potential...

You brought up a valid point. I never see a vette driver cruising at more than 5 miles under the speed limit

I got to see it the other day, it's very nice.
The work is done by Draexlmaier and they also do stuff for Maybach and MB, among others.

One note, the upgraded leather is not $8K by itself, it's part of the 4LT package which is 8K. The 4LT includes the nice leather upgrade plus everything in the 3LT package (HUD, heated seats, etc.).

you haven't met me yet......

Not all Vette owners are over the age of 50, some of us like to get our moneys worth out of the car.

definitely...

but you have to admit, an overwhelming amount are. At least where I live, vettes are a dime a dozen as the official mid-life crisis car. I've always wanted one, but everyone has one and I'm too young to be lumped into that crowd. I'm sure it's different in different areas, but here anyway...

Is there a fake tan and chest wig package too? Seems to me that most vette owners go for this option.

I believe the C&D issue was the same one the new M3 was featured in.

yes thats the one.. and the vette interior shots are pretty impressive i must say.. anyway, i wasnt comparing to the 335, just surprised how fast these cars are getting.. we are going to give the europeans a run for their money with base cars that fast.

That said, i love bimmer's (all bimmer's, 1-8 series : )) .. and will prolly never get a vette...

The Vette is pure Americana for sure.

But it's packaging is of the past century. I applaud it's relative light weight but if it were an arrow, it feels like the the center of gravity is too far forward (heavy engine/cooling). They added wide rear tires and rear track to counteract this.

Light, efficient, and low inertia is the sports car of the future. 4 secs 50k is nice tho.

It's there now. Less than 3,200 lbs, .28 drag and 50/50 weight distribution along with insane performance for the price whether you're driving in a straight line or on a track.

What facts are you basing the "heavy engine" quote on? Larger displacement does not mean they are larger in mass. The 5.0L V10 in an M5 weighs 529 lbs, while the 7.0L V8 in a Corvette Z06 weighs 490 lbs. The 3.0L in the 335i weighs 419 lbs, while a 6.0L LS2 weighs only 21 lbs. more @ 440.

Why are you using BMW sedans to prove your point? I said the sports car of the future will be lighter and more efficient, and will not need a 7.0L engine to do sub 4 sec 0-60.

Also, an engine that big in a 3200lb car...the numbers great, but not very adimrable from an engineering standpoint (efficiency) when a Porsche 911S does almost the same numbers with a normally aspirated engine half that size...and its heavier.

Cheers
