BMW wants to buy my car back

I recieved a letter from my local dealership this week offering to buy my CPO M3 at "top cash value". It went on to say "because we know the service records of your car" and "we are having a difficult time obtaining quality used BMW's". I do know that when I was last down on the lot, they had zero M3's new or used. I doubt they would offer me buyout value. Anybody else receive such an offer?

yup, its pure marketing... my mom got same the letter from benz for her benz G55 amg, all they want you to do it just get another new car from them... but last time i check they didnt even have the same car on their lot, not even the G550... haha my mom would never let go of the G wagon...

They left a big note in my car with the same thing when I went to service my car. It's just to get you into a new car. "top cash value" just means they are willing to pay blue book cost.

1) Of course they know the service history of your car. EVERY BMW Dealership knows the service history of BMW cars since all data is logged into BMW's service computers.

2) "Top Cash" means they'll give you what the car is worth at auction value based on year, mileage, options, and so on.

i was at my local dealer for servicing, and the sales man upon hearing I own an M3 offered to buy it from me.

It's either:
1. demand for used M3 is increasing and they're seeing good margins on these
2. it's a ploy to sell you another car

i read some crazy stat on the % of G wagons that are still on the road. the number i think is in the 90% area. somethign nuts.

that is the only Mercedes i think is absolutely awesome. well, the S 65 is pretty bada%% too. and the cls 63... but that G wagon? fcking NATO

what dealer do you go to? Alexandria, FFX?

I've had no offers for me M5...ha! They probably know better

I got the same mail every year at this time, most of the dealer needs to clear the inventory before summer ends for the new model years.

It's both. Although I'm surprised that a BMW dealer is sending this out. I've normally seen this as a tactic used by the mid-level dealers (Ford/GM/Nissan/etc...).

But yeah, depending on your market used cars can fetch some nice quick profit for a dealer. Although I have to laugh since they wouldn't have anything new and exciting in their inventory to entice you with. (for example, when the new 370's came out Nissan was sending me this offer every month for a few months when I had by 350Z)

I can definately see dealers doing this when the new M3's come out (by then the 2011's will be at that ripe 3-4 year old range).

this is standard dealership ad SOP to bring in foot traffic. they won't even do anything differently - when you come in they will appraise your trade in like they would anybody else's and the haggling begins
