Powder Coat Black Wheels Question

I am considering powder coating my wheels black matte but I might want to go back to the stock look one day.

If you powder coat the wheels, can you paint them back stock?
Or if I paint them they will never be the same?

I know this is a newb question but what can I say... Id rather ask..

Thanks!

Do what I am probably going to do. Just get the Avant Garde reps in black. You can get them in a little.more aggressive offset so you don't have that tucked in look. They are a little over $1000.00 right now on the pyspeed site.

thanks for the advice! its definitly an option.

I saw in some pics of your car (my favorite 1M so far by the way) that you wrote that you powder coated them matte black.

Did you have some problems with the powder coat? between powder coat and plasti dip, what would you do? if money is no issue...

Thanks!!!

ha ha thanx buddy

i powdercoated mine indeed, the finish is better with a powdercoat and your finish options a little more broad than with the plasti dip. but ive seen plasti dipped wheels in person and it doesnt look bad at all! and the reversability to stock is instant, you just peel and bam, its back to OEM. also plasti dipping doesnt require your wheels to be gone for 2-3 weeks, when you powder coat your wheels you will most likely need to borrow a new set of of wheels that fit the 1M to ride on (unless you can just jack the car and not use it during). the only concern i have with plasti dipping is that if you knick the finish, the entire wheel will peel and you have to redo it.

i would still powder coat if i had to redo it again but plasti dip is a very viable option

Thanks again for the info!

Why is it 2 or 3 weeks?
I had my wheels powder coated for my 335 and it took days, not weeks... and the result was pretty good.

My only worry and last question (hopefully) is if I powder coat my wheels, can I paint them back to OEM or Gunmetal if I want to?

hahah maybe it helps that the owner is a friend of mine
Get them pretty cheap too.
well thanks a lot for your help! I will ask the guy who paints them about posible changes after pc them.

I will post his opinion here.

By the way, I also saw that you have your side grilles black. Did you painted them or bought them? I saw some on alekshop.com but seemed expensive for 160 dollars...
Thanks again!

Plus if you plasti dip thick enough it might actually provide protection from curb rash
