BMW Made in USA
Does anyone know about BMW being built in the USA specifically the 1 Series? How can I tell if one is made in Germany or the USA?

The only BMWs assembled(not made) in the USA are X3, X5, X6, the window sticker states the country of assembly. All 1 series are made in Leipzig, Germany not sure about the 1M. I believe the 328i sedans at one time were assembled in South Africa, not sure if the F30 continues. All remaining models come from Munich or Regensberg, Germany.

Cars with over 50% US content will have a VIN number that begins with 1. My previous Z3 M Coupe was assembled in South Carolina, but had more than 50% German content, so the VIN began with a W, for Germany.
Some F30's are made in South Africa, so that continues. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle...ication_Number |

There's an easier way to tell - do Euro delivery, and then you'll know for sure.
