LCI?

Hey all,

So I googled LCI and learned that LCI stands for basically a face lifted car. So I guess my 2012 is a e92 M3 is an LCI? My question is if there's visually no real difference between the 2012 and 2008 as far as parts like grills then why is it more expensive? I know there's probably a newb question in there but I'm just trying to figure out why I need to fork over extra dough on a car that's only LCI on paper and not cosmetically different?

If that's any confusing, then I apologize.

For example, can't I just purchase a used 2008 grill and put it on my 2012 without any modifications? Or do I really need to buy the 2012 LCI only part?

Thanks

Grilles are universal, so they will be the same price no matter the year.

The taillights are different on the LCI cars. The headlights have a small, minor difference as well.

As far as why the car costs more...inflation, material costs, tons of other shit.

As far as the E92 M3 is concerned, the only difference between the LCI models that were introduced in MY11 and the pre-LCI models are the taillights. There are no other exterior changes that are LCI specific. Likewise, there was no notable price increase after LCI, so I'm not sure what you're referring to when you ask why something is more expensive.

I went to a vendor's website that posts on this site. The non-LCI gloss black grills are $80 and the LCI gloss black grills are $120. So that prompted my question.

Aye. I apologize for this confusion. I was referring to the cost of a pre-LCI grill to an LCI grill. If there was such a difference...

Without seeing a link to the product you're referring to and making sure we're talking about the same thing, that sounds like a shady practice. There should be no difference at all between the grills of any model years, LCI or not.
