Stupid BMW software!!!
Hey guys, I just got a 2012 E92 M3 and is very happy to join the club!
So this morning I was running late for work and I backed up the car before putting on my seat belt and the car revved to 6,000 RPM in neutral while still cold and during break-in!!! Similar things like this happened like 3 times already. The new BMW software is so stupid!!! Anyone know if I damaged the car? |

Your car is fine. Don't baby it too much during break-in.

Mike- I hope you see the obvious opportunity here for some coding- As EVERYONE will want to lose this "feature"

So for those of you that have the update, try checking with the dealer and pressing them to correct the issue. They will likely start a PUMA case and load different software in the car to get rid of these annoyances. If there is someone in the West LA area with this update, please let me know because I would like to take a stab at removing it with coding. There is no risk involved. Thanks, Mike

OP, What's with you and over-rev incidents? Were there friends around or did you go "off" on yourself?

Some people talk like these things are made out of egg shells.
If an M3 could be hurt by 6,000RPMs at any time broken in or not it'd have the reputation of being a fragile piece of shite. Don't worry about it. |

I got a new 2012 e92 and i can operate the car fine with doors open and seat belt off. Does this mean I dont have the newest software? Im about to go in for my 1200 mile service. Should I tell them not to update it??
