Ordered my m3

I\'ve been waiting to post this or a while. Just ordered a fully equipped alpine white with fox red extended interior 2012 e92. I was at the dealer with my father picking up his new s class and he surprised me by ordering it.

Congratulations! Now you get to experience the agony of the wait. ;-)

Congrats! Please tell me you're in your 20's. Don't need you wrapping yourself around a pole.

Thank you guys. I'm only 15 (soon to be sixteen) so this will be my first car. Hopefully I can find a autocross event to go to with my dad to have some extra fun in.

Well if I was 15 getting an M for my first car I would be like hell yeah. As a parent though this is not a responsible move on the parents part. You don't buy your kid a super car for their first car.

Anyhow congrats OP!

O boy. Congrats and be careful out there. This car has a lot of power for a 16 year old. Respect that car.

Hey it could've been worse, OPs dad could've got him a 911 Turbo S

Enjoy the M3 OP, it's a beautiful machine Just a word of advice, if your anything like most 15yr olds, I highly recommend a V1 or Passport 9500

I hope that I'm not being presumptuous, but would your Dad entertain the two of you attending a solid, reputable driving school? The M3 has a lot of power, and knowing how to handle it should you get into a dicey situation will serve you very well.

Talk about looking on the bright side.

I just hope this doesn't end up being him. I'm expecting a thread being created very soon called, "I wrecked my M3".

Quote:
Potential idiot parents take note — the 2008 BMW M3 is a finely crafted, high-performance, German-engineered rocket sled. It is not a present to buy for your LA-area 19-year-old. When parents like you buy cars like M3s for your kids, things like this happen — they pile a couple of guys in the car, then take it out for high-speed foolishness. At the peak of teenage testosterone, they will hit the "M button," rocket up a hill, lose control, jump a curb and bash into a house.

You do not have to one-up your idiot neighbors. In fact, do not buy your son a car at all. If you do, buy him a clapped-out 80's-era Volvo. We know you think your son deserves all the best, but he also doesn't deserve to turn into that idiot teen who gets ridiculed on the internet for crashing expensive BMW's into peoples houses — or for ramping off the end of a runway berm, killing everyone in the car.

Hopefully I don't wreck it. I am investing in a escort 9500i and laser jammer. I bought this car for the feel btw. And yes we are considering prof driving school. I dont want to end up as a statistic.

Good luck out there and be safe. You seem to be mature enough, and certainly don't type like a 16 year old does. Enjoy it and be grateful. Your father is one heck of a man.

Wow congrats on the car man enjoy it in good health. Be careful and remember this is precision machine so treat it like one. I def think driving school is a must. Not because your 16 but because it's your first car and your new to driving. But anyway congrats and post pics when you get it.

Congrats! I'd suggest a Car Control Clinic to let you explore the limits in a controlled environment as opposed to the freeway on ramp. Check with your local chapter of the BMW Car Club, they should have some this spring. You're a lucky guy, when I was 16 I had a poster of the E46 M3 and dreamed of owning one.

Congrats...

I do think an M3 is too much for a new driver though.

Am I the only one here who thinks it is completely ridiculous for someone to buy their kid an M3 as their first car?
