M3 forces you to lose a few?
So I am a pretty average weight of 180 and 6'0 tall but the m3 seats were by far the smallest/most snug I had ever owned. I must admit when I got the car the seats made me actually lose a few pounds to feel a bit more "lean" in those seats, especially when the bolsters snug you. My last bimmer (x5) had HUGE seats and I felt skinny in those Just today I think Ill have to drop about 10 more to really feel just right in these seats.
How do any fat people drive this car? Honestly it would be really uncomfortable with bolsters jabbing your sides if you were a porker? Kudos if you can tolerate it though! |

They do open and close but even all the way open I cannot see how a 200 plus pounder fits. On the x5 comfort seats that had bolsters I could squeeze them completely closed and it would feel just right. These I "close" them a little bit but I am nowhere near skinny enough to close them all the way and be comfortable. But even completely open I am not seeing how bigger peeps even if not overweight are fitting in these!

Before seriously considering my 2011 M3 Coupe I had great concerns about interior comfort over all (roof height, hip room, leg room etc.). Throw in the fact that I have a L4/L5 herniated disc and that should tell you how concerned I was with "comfort" in addition to "speed and performance". I would not have purchased this car if I felt "uncomfortable" in any way. I don't need to spend that much money to be "uncomfortable". Verdict? I find my E92 one of the most comfortable rigs I have ever driven. I find the seats with all of the adjustments (especially side bolsters) to be VERY accomodating and comfortable. But then again, what do "really fat, porker people" know? |

I am a large individual, and at 6'0 180 lbs, not sure why you would have to drop any lbs. At 6'0 265lbs, I will admit the seats are a bit snug, but nothing that I need a shoe horn to pop out of. I feel quite comfortable in them :P

Wow impressive at 260 pounds you find them comfortable. Nothing porky about 260. Perhaps you are solid muscle and more svelte than me. Not knocking anyone but I am sure there are some obese people that own m3's and literally just was not sure how they fit. I must just be extra wide in the side!

5'11", 250 lbs. - My god I've got a lot of friends out there!
Car fits me well. In fact, I have to pull the side bolsters in a little. I know how Ateam feels though. I have the same problem with Porsche seats. I can only sit for about 1/2 hour and then the side bolsters really start digging into my sides. I know they have the adaptive seat ($$$), but having never sat in one, I don't know how comfortable they would be. Like others, I was very careful in evaluating the M3 since I spend a lot of time in it and with things like degenerative disc disease, (yes, I'm over 55), an uncomfortable seat makes itself known pretty quickly. And yes, if I lose a few pounds, the car will reach a whole new level of performance. Gotta love it though; even if it is a bit handicapped. |

6'3", 200, no issues whatsoever, but I prefer a snug fit, especially on the the back roads and track.....same reason I got speedcloth, don't like moving and need to be in a certain position to feel like I have full control over the car.
Cheers, e46e92

wow you guys must have different seats than me. Do any of you own or have owned an x5 or 5er? I guess if you compare it to that which is my comparison maybe its just relatively snug to that since those are so much wider. Oh well guess I am just wider than I thought. Must pack the wait on in my gut!

6'6" and 225 lbs and I feel a bit snug. Not too tight but I am working on getting closer to 200 lbs (Not for the car) and I do expect to feel that I fit better when I reach that goal.

it's a small car but i wouldn't call it a tight fit. 6'3'' and 260 here and a 46'' chest. biggest problem was always getting into the car! as some of the other posters pointed out, try adjusting the bolsters. the seat is supposed to hold you in place around corners so it's going to be snug but not to the point where it's uncomfortable.

All this weight talk makes me laugh because I actually use the bolsters to gauge how I'm doing in the 'ol midsection. I have them adjusted just pass my trim setting so when I gain a few too many I can feel it everytime I get in the ride. A couple days of that and I'm back in the gym.
