Talking Waiting .... impatiently for my M3

This will be my first M car. Getting it the end of the month - but I cannot seem to wait any longer!

I have watched all the you tube videos on the M3 and when I hear the engine sound it drives me crazy! Wish I had mine already,

Getting a Space Grey 2012, DCT, with 19" Mags, Nav and BT.

Just wanted to ask : How do I check what software version the car has? Its already at the dealership - just waiting for month end so that I can register it as a 2012. If it does not have the latest firmware I want them to update it while its standing there.

Can't the dealer tell you what software you have?

I know how you feel about the wait. I did ED last month and am impatiently waiting and tracking my car as it makes the trek across the ocean. It's tough especially when I see the ship hasn't moved from it's spot in the Panama canal for three days. Plus i was told that after it gets here, it could be stuck in customs from a few days to a month. In any case, hang in there, it's definitely worth the wait.

The dealer, or one of the vendors with remote DME programming capability, can tell you which version you are running. However, good luck getting the dealer to update your car to the latest version if it's not having any issues with the version currently installed.

Why would you have to wait til the end of the month to register it? If it's a 2012, it doesn't matter how long you wait.

Congrats on the purchase. I waited 3 months, the longest 3 months of my life. Like others have said, it is well worth the wait. I promise!

Wink I knew it ....

I just knew I would not be able to wait until month end! I made a rather crappy deal with the dealership to get my car today and still only reg in Jan 2012.

I am still speechless. I cannot describe the feeling of owning a v8 M3, its unreal! That engin sound is absolutely amazing. I always knew that the m3 would be special, but its much better than i expected.

I feel like a child again, realy excited

Took my wife for a drive, but she was not too impressed. I gave her my 2009 X5 Dynamic and then i traded her 320i 2011 sports pack in on the M3 for myself.

Her comment : this looks just like her previous car! When my face lights up when hearing that V8, she looks at me as if something is wrong with me. Seems not everyone is as impressed as I am. But i cannot complain, at least she had no issue that i got the M3.

She doesnt like the M3 (mainly because she wants something bigger and also when i'm on the autobahn she is constantly telling me to slow down!)

I left the house in the morning to order the X5 and took the long route to the dealers - the M3 felt and sounded great as always, the sun was out and i just thought about how much i was going to miss the car - the E90 M3 was due to end production in Oct as well. Specced up an new E90 M3 in the dealership and ordered it - told my wife when i got home and she didn't believe me!

Waiting is painful! I sold my '06 330 three months before my new car arrived and it was like an eternity. It will be worth it in the end. Congrats!

Can you explain why you wanted to wait for another 3 weeks until month end to "register it in 2012"? We in the US do not have a clue what you are talking about?

I know, I know!! Talk about timing! I am slightly concerned that Santa Claus is not going to get it down the Chimney.

In all seriousness, I'm worried about a winter delivery. We've already had our first freezing rain/sleet/hail here in Seattle, so I'm thinking a set of winter tyres is in order.

Congrats!

I'm surprised this is your first ///M and you just joined the forum. Who would have thought that 4 years later, "M3 DCT" would still be available as a screen name.

Im not sure how it works in the US, but in South Africa the year model of the car depends on the first registration.

My car was built in 2011 but it has not been regisitered yet - its was still on the dealer's floor waiting to be sold. If I purchase the car now and register it today - it will reflect as a 2011 model. If I only register it in Jan - it will reflect as a 2012 model = much better trade value when I want to trade it later on.

Thats why it does not make sense to purchase a new car late in the year,
