University of Miami Allegations
Ignore my username and affiliations, but what is everyone's thoughts on this? http://sports.yahoo.com/investigatio...enefits_081611
If all of that is true, it makes tOSU scandal look like peanuts.

holy shit!!! i just read it too, this is going to rip them apart!!!
1st of all, the OSU stuff IS peanuts. I dont' know why it's such a big deal when the benefits the kids recieved were no more than $1000 or so collectively and the cars were all sold at a profit...the Miami stuff...all I got to say is holy shit! This is on par with the early 90s issues and the Alabama violations. We're talking about like 5 years of lost scholarships here. |

I'm a U fan since as far back as I can remember. Fucking A, this doesn't look good at all... but I can't honestly say this is a huge surprise. Still, at least it started in 2002 and won't be putting a blemish on the 2001 Miami Hurricanes - the greatest college football team in history.

Although this is most likely the worst out of any D1 school, Coral Gables isn't the only place where boosters are on the dicks of the star players.

What sets this apart to me is the allegations that coaches and even the president knew about it and were complicit in a way. If that's really the case then this would destroy Miami. What struck me was how Shapiro had receipts and pictures to back it all up. That one picture with "Lil Luke" or something like that on it from a player is pretty hard to explain away. The person I feel bad for is Al Golden. He seems like a stand up guy and none of this is his fault but he'll have to pay the price for it.

I cant believe it has gone this long without falling apart.

as sad as it is, this is going on at every major program but the NCAA is too busy counting their money to actually do something to change this pattern. Instead they just try to ruin the program for a couple of years in attempt to slow them down

Not at this level. I'm pretty sure every major or competitive program in the country has shit it's doing that is in violation of regulations, but this is an absolute gold mine. I've never heard of allegations this extensive.

i just had that thought as well. it was a few days between new years and the rose bowl so it could've started during that time but if that was the case, i think he would've said something other than "early 2002" like "just after new years" or "as soon as the year started" or something like that.
