2011 E92... If you have Logic7... do you have the best subs in?

Hi,

I used to have a 335x with HK Logic7 premium audio... and loved it.

I bought my M3 with what was I thouht, the same, but hate it, there is barely any bass.

Having not taken the audiophile package, would I not already have the HK/Logic best subs in there?

To make things worse, I bought an X1 with HK premium audio... and the sound is infinately better than in my M3.

I am thinking of getting the AMP from audiophile package (which looks the same to me when I look at realoem.com), but if its the same subs I am wondering if I am doomed.

Could my subs be "broken"?

Please help!

EDIT:

These are the two options:

Central bass, right TOP-HIFI-SYSTEM 1 65139143136 $399.32
Central bass, left TOP-HIFI-SYSTEM 1 08/2004 65139143135 $399.32

VS.

Central bass, right HIFI-SYSTEM 1 65139143144 $192.20
01 Central bass, left HIFI-SYSTEM 1 65139143143 $192.20

how can I tell?

You should start by really knowing what OEM system do you really have, otherwise you will end up buying something that most probably will not even work in your system.

How can I check the subs without tearing the car appart?

I opened the trunk and checked the amp compartment. I saw the profile of the AMP, and it is definitely the Logic7 one (same shape as the individual... but I didn't buy that so... 100% sure).

Find in the iDrive the audio EQ and look for Logic7. If you had that system before then this should be easy, correct?

Yes I know I have the Logic7 feature set.

I never doubted this. I am concerned about not having the best subwoofers for the car.

Perhaps someone else has had an experience with a defective system?

Besides the weak bass output, the bass seems distortioned Vs. my other 2012 BMW with Harman Kardan.

I understand your comment and have read at least 50 of your various posts so here is my question to you as a subject matter expert:

I have a 2011.1 M3 with Logic7. It does not perform like my 2009 335 with Logic7 which I loved. I also have a 2012 X1 with HK sound that is performing significantly better than the L7 in my M3.

Would installing the Individual Series Amplifier be possible to resolve the low presence of this system?

Looking at BMW parts listings the subs seem to be the same for both. Assuming this is correct, if I purchased a BSW stage 1 for the rest of the speakers would I, in the end, have something that sounds like my 2009 335?

The dealer hears music coming out of the speakers so naturally they say its fine. The techs do not want to investigate, so the odds of getting the system replaced, even if it were faulty, are slim right now.

Thank you Technic for your help.

No, much different OEM speaker impedances between the two systems. The Individual Audio will overheat driving the Logic7 OEM speakers.

The OEM woofers are vastly different between the two systems (see above).

Thank you Technic for your help.
Please describe exactly how you are concluding that there is a marked difference between the bass performance of this particular OEM Logic7 compared to the other OEM Logic7 systems.

- are you using the exact source material?
- are you using the exact OEM bass, treble, EQ bands settings?
- did you buy this car new or used?

Yes.

- are you using the exact OEM bass, treble, EQ bands settings?

Totally neutral EQ, Bass and Treble. Surround off.

- did you buy this car new or used?

It was moderately new from the dealership (1200 km).

I have decided to go ahead with Bavarian BWS Logic7 upgrade kit for approx 600$ and order two SWS-8X subwoofers for about 250$ (all new).

If that still doesn't work I'll consider an aftermarket amplifier... but I would be disappointed to start cutting and damaging an otherwise pristine car to install it.

I thought the M3's top stereo option was the "Enhanced Premium" system which is different from the "Logic7" system in the non-M 3 series and the Logic7 wasn't available for the M3?

Damn, my stock M3 system sounds GREAT! It bumps hard, is crisp, I wouldn't ask for anything more. Glad I'm not an audiophile or life would be frustrating, LOL.

You have to adjust the EQ and bass levels to your taste, this system is not designed to sound nowhere near good without adjustments.
