LED Upgrades- Foglights and Lisence Plate
Hey everyone,
Yes I did a search lol. I was wondering who out there has done this and had good long term results. Many of the posts I have read said the bulbs have burned out rather quick. So who has done this, where did they purchase and what was the part #? Thanks in advance, Patrick |

mfanatic did his rear plate and he liked it, me personally my experience was so far. not only did both bulbs die out rather quickly, but the fixture itself does not sit as flush as the stock lights, so you see a black frame hanging out.

Why do you guys want others to see your license plates? Or, is it just more of a visual modification and has nothing to do with wanting others to see your plate?

Patrick,
You can run our V3 LED License Plate bulbs in the factory housings for an upgrade. For the fogs, I don't recommend an LED upgrade but you can do a hyperwhite bulb like the Xenesis. |

i think in general, white light always looks visually better, halogens, fogs, license plates, etc - just might not be an improvement functionally.

The newer model cars like the lexus IS, GS all have this clean white look instead of the old yellowish light. I think it looks 100X better. Why not being consistent all the way on your car since the xenon bulbs are a nice white. |

^^ Because people on public roads don't get to know your personality intimately or know little things about you over months of talking to you.
If you are linked through a forum (soe would think) it would be easy to piece together what your habits are and and would make casing you for robbery or something easier. Also useful if you post stupid crap like "I went 146mph on the highway today and got away from the cop that was chasing me" Not so much of that on this forum though...

^^yeah i think it shows that you are an enthusiast without going overboard. Subtle changes and differences. I havent done this Mod yet but i would love to in the future. Anytime im sitting behind a newer lexus or benz, I always thought it looked really clean. Kind of makes the car look more modern.

hah I have a custom license plate (M FANATC), so I don't mind if people see it at night. White is cleaner looking anyway imho. Hence why my interiors are LED as well.
The reason why I didn't go with just bulbs is because the white bulbs are still extremely dim. I figure I'd do it right the first time around than skimp out on a few bucks. Anyhoo, I got my license plate LED lights from that one forum sponsor guy "E92-Lighting" or whateverz. But I did need the alternative connecting wire that he offers. It acts as a converter between the light unit he sells, and the plug that our OEM light units take. edit: I got it from this guy - http://www.zpost.com/forums/member.php?u=39895 Tell him it's for E85/E86 Z4, and to send both sets of wires just in case your car is like mine and needs the option 2 wiring. Wish I had a night pic of it, but unfortunately my friend never got around to sending me the night pix from a shoot we did Last edited by mfanatic325; 03-02-2011 at 08:52 PM.. |
