Conundrum

Just bought a 2006 Z4 si for a weekend car. 335i Coupe is my DD. Bought new shoes (style 313) for the 335i cuz I needed new tires and wanted to go to non-RFT. No, that's not a good excuse but it was enough for me. So I have that issue resolved.

The 108s that came on the car are in terrible shape. Much curb rash, much paint pitting, etc. Must replace them. The tires are brand new. Just put on by the seller the week before I bought it. Was considering putting the 230s from the 335i on the Z4 (see pic below) or buying some light wheels such at the OZ Alleggerita (see pic below) due to the lightness and just keep the new RFTs. Appreciate your thoughts. After I get everything rearranged I post pics. Thanks and I look forward to contributing to the discussions on here.

P.S. I am challenged on posting pics.

I really like some of the CSL replicas (fairly cost effective as well) and that look on our cars.

There is a "See rim/wheel on your car" option on tire rack, you could just click that, pick your car color and see exactly what it looks like. Pretty spiffy actually.

If you do buy through tirerack.com, make sure to get there by clicking the banner on the top of every zpost.com page to help support this great site!

I think the look of the BMW ones you posted would look nice, similar to the Z4 3.0si factory rims (sorry not sure of style ###). You can check out my garage for pics of them though!

I could not find a nice CSL style rim on TireRack.com when I looked a while back. **********s.com has some, silver too (nice), but not staggered.

The fact you are looking at lightweight I'd stay away from replicas. I like OZ wheels and used to have the Ultraleggeras which I thought were great. If you want something cheaper, TR Motorsport (TRM) wheels offer great value.

PS the 108s are known for not holding up well, clearcoat comes off easily...

Meh, guess I was thinking of the VMR rims from europeanautosource.com. There are some no name brands that are similar on tire rack but not the rims.

Definitely go with light wheels. I have driven the TRM MT1 in 18" and currently have the OZ you mentioned in17". Both were excellent and 1000x better than OEM wheels

I personally like 17" due to the significant savings in tire price.

Do a search and you may find wheels and tires for sale on the forums.

Good Luck.

I picked up a set of Avant Garde M335 from **********s, and they are staggered and powdercoated, so they should hold up well. www.**********s.com/Avant-Garde-M335-Wheels.htm

Thanks for all the input. I know that the best thing to do is to junk the 19" and go to 18" and go non rft. But that means I have to junk everything I have and start over from scratch. I am just not quite sure I am willing to do that. So, what is the second best option? Use the 19" 230 with non rft since I have to get new tires anyway or buy new 18" rims and use the brand new rft that I have? It's a Hobson's choice I know but given those options, what are your thoughts? Thanks much.

You don't have to "junk" them. Just sell them.

19's will down the ride comfort a bit, but the RFT's dumb down the performance a lot.

If those are your only 2 options then it is a toss up, and depends on what is more cost effective, more important, and what looks better to you.
