Gas Tank sensor

Hey,

I had posted an issue few months back about my gas tank gauge only showing half my gas on a full tank. Some people suggested I'd put Techron in it on a few fill up's and it might help burn the sulfur build up off my sensor.

After over 10-12 fill ups with Techron, now my gauge has actually went from middle to a bit less then half.. seems like the issue it getting worse.

I finally decided to take it to a local tech. And from that I now I have two questions:

1) Does anyone know the part number for the sensor or sensors I'd need? How much would I be looking at for the sensor or sensors?

and

2) The tech says its going to be like a 3-4 hour's job because they have to remove the gas tank ? true? guy seems really nice but I wanted to confirm if changing the sensor is that difficult...

Thanks in advance.
Amir

I think on the last thread you posted, somebody posted a diagram from RealOEM. Dig it back up or better yet go through RealOEM. Not hard at all. Also good indy mechanic is BimmerClinic in Elizabeth NJ. Not too far from the tunnel. Give them a hollar.

Thank you sir. I actually didn't see it the first time a around..lol seems like you have a better memory then me.

Parts around $300-370...

I think I read I have to remove the gas tank to replace the sensor and pump, since they come as one unit... freaking A

if its not your only ride, this would be a good do it yourself project. I have the BMW TIS in case you need to figure out how to take things apart
