Is driving on bumpy roads in the stiffer EDC modes bad for the car?
Is it bad for the car to drive on bumpy roads in the normal or sport EDC modes, or just less comfortable?
I have EDC set to sport on the M button, and often forget to dial it down if I'm on a bumpy road. Just wondering if I should set M button to comfort or normal (or unchanged), then increase it when the road conditions permits? |

i am wondering the same thing...all i know is that when my EDC is set to sport, and i drive over shitty LA roads, the whole interior of the car rattles and sounds like its gonna fall apart...when i change to comfort, it makes no difference...so maybe its just the car...ZCP slightly lowered with 19s...

The more important concern is how the car has been driven. It's possible that those who keep their EDC in sport will drive a bit more aggressively than someone who keeps the EDC in comfort. |

i have my M mode set to everything sport
drive comfort most of the time since the roads here suck then press the M when i want to gooooo then press it again to calm down :P why not press the button? lol But i don't think it would matter much you're on stock suspension it's designed to be driven on various kinds of roads hence why if you want a true track M, you would need to upgrade the suspension

just how much more...we don't exactly know...the E9x is not old enough to start showing these problems as of yet, unlike the E46 with its subframe issue. |

Do you have ZCP?? Comfort and normal EDC settings have always been variable from softest to successive levels above that. Sport was at a set level (stiff only). Now WITH ZCP, the Sport setting is variable like the others, depending on road conditions and driving style. What does this mean...well if you're just cruising down the road any setting will feel the same. Only when you pick up the pace and/or the road gets twisty will the normal and sport levels feel progressively stiffer.

yes this is true. i can attest to this....i thought edc sport mode was cool at first...drove with it on that setting since day 1 and after 2 weeks my car feels like the insides were gonna fall apart...now i leave it in normal setting and the rattles have tamed themselves a bit but still not dead quiet like a 328 loaner thats been punished by a zillion people |
