Sad Day, Sold The Best Car I have owned yet.

As the title says, I sold my Boxster S today. It had to be done, I have a baby in the house now and with intentions of buying a vacation home we will be switching to a two car system for a while. I know that there are a lot of Boxster haters on this board, just know that you are wrong for not showing this car some respect, it is truly fantastic.

Anyway just needed to vent a little, I am surprised at how upset I was when I walked away, I feel like I betrayed a friend....I guess I did.

On the positive side I have just two cars currently on my short list, the 335i that I leased for the wife goes away this January, so I will have to get something to compliment the X535d.

Unless something crazy happens, I will probably be buying an M3 or a used 997TT. I did a little test driving this weekend, two M3s, one DCT and one MT. I am sad to report that the DCT blows the MT away in this car, it seems like BMW doesn't want you to buy an MT anymore.

I am leaning toward the M3 coupe at the moment, at least I can fit a proper stroller in it and it will be a bit more usable then a 911, and I think a 911 would make a good stable mate for an M3 down the road.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far, you really have no reason to care.

Well hopefully you'll be more happy with the M3. Good Luck!

987 Boxsters really are amazing cars. It took me until the refresh to respect them though, and that's mainly because I hate (hate) the 986s. I was biased for awhile.

I couldn't call it a sad day if I was you though. Being a prospective owner of an E92 M3 isn't a bad thing.

No doubt you were connected tot he boxster...might be the best car in the world...most ppl just see porsche and expect to see a 911 status-wise

Consider getting the m3 sedan...nothign beats a sport sedan...nothing!

You won't regret it with a family...the coupe simply isn't worth it, sedan will grow on you after a month.

I was in the same boat. I didn't give the 986 a second look, until I drove one, then when the 987 came around I ordered one immediately.

Try actually putting in a car seat and reaching back to strap in a child several times before you jump on the E92...
Having a sedan is so much more convenient. You might not think that now but you will after the 100th time with the E92 motoring the seat forward and back and climbing in those deep seats.

I know, 99% of the time the baby travels in the X5, it really is a token back seat that won't really get used except for emergency.

Besides, I alread have an e90, I like it but I would like a change.

Buy an E90 M3, you will get really annoyed putting the baby in the back, it will be a pain in the butt, coupes are not practicle for babies.

OP, that is sad to hear as I have heard or read so many stories about the attachment to boxster or cayman's, similar to yours. This car isn't a segment leader in terms of performance but damn, their owner's really love it. Must be a real ''drivers'' car

Its tempting, but I think a going for the M3 this time, I think the car a really want would make a good stable mate for the M down the road, the GT3.

Its ok. Pick up a Boxster Spyder in a few years and tell your wife that it will be an investment for the family and that everybody needs to learn how to drive a stick at some point in their life

I love the Boxster Spyder, that would be a fun track car, and still enjoyable on the street. They are begining to crack down on the open top cars on the track, even with roll hoops.
