The Stig... Gone?

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11008302...-sack---report

Quote:
For some people, keeping secrets is not such an easy thing to do. To his credit, race car driver Ben Collins kept his alter ego, The Stig, secret for over six and a half years.

Unfortunately, revealing a secret sometimes leads to consequences. As punishment for violating a non disclosure agreement, the BBC has reportedly fired Collins. Collins has had a deal in the works to write a tell-all book for publishing company HarperCollins in which he reveals behind-the-scenes details about Top Gear.

The BBC has also sued HarperCollins to prevent the book's publication. The publishing firm claims the BBC is wasting money, while Top Gear executive producer Any Wilman says it is ridiculous for the publisher to go after cash by revealing a "harmless" mystery.

What lies in the balance is the fate of the White Stig. When the Black Stig was revealed to be race driver Perry McCarthy after McCarthy wrote his autobiography, Top Gear killed off the character. Could a new Stig be on the way, will the Black Stig finally emerge from the water, or will the White Stig live to see another day.

We should find out the truth by the time Top Gear Series 16 begins in November.

guess they had to find someone new when MSC came back to F1

This is the case when people get full of them selves, what Collins fails to realize is people love the Stig as a character, they dont give two craps about the dude inside the suit

Yep, furthermore, people don't really care too much about the stig (other than he is a great driver). I enjoy Jeremy's "some say" comments more than the Stig himself. They could put a Stig outfit on a crash dummy and put him in the passenger seat and I would like it just as long as they made funny comments about him while the Stig listened to Rosetta Stone audio.

Some say right now he is standing in line at the unemployment office, and if he had any advice for the next one he would tell him to keep his big mouth shut.

All we know is, he used to be called the Stig.

What I want to know is why every single Stig seems to like breaking their non-disclosure agreements by commenting in biographies that they are the Stig.

I thought The Stig would of only been fired for killing Rubens Barrichello after he broke the Stigs track record. Oh well.

Ben Collins has long been known as the 'full time' Sitg that does most of the testing and appearances where he tutors the celebs, but he has to share this role with many guest 'Stigs' from the world of professional motorsport.

Everyone is right in thinking that the person in the suit is far less interest than the character. One thing is for certain, getting a replacement will be easy and having countless professional drivers to pick from means the times set are all consistent and to the best of the car's ability which is all that's important in the end.

Yeah, I had always assumed that there are several "Stigs" behind the helmet
