Car advice for father in law?

Hey guys, my father in law is looking to purchase a new car, getting rid of his lexus es330 he's had for many years.

He's pretty picky about his cars so here's his criteria:

1.has knee and back/waist pain frequently so entry/exit must be easy. He says getting in and out of my 328i is a hassle.
2.wants a really big trunk.
3.Does NOT like wagons.
4.wants to stay away from suvs cause he wants decent gas mileage...but often times he carries a lot of stuff so see #2.
5.good in snow, lives in Massachusetts.
6.comfortable for front and rear occupants.
7.car doesn't need to be a true performer, drives like old man.
8.He wants seats that don't "cuddle" him. He says the side bolstering on my 328i non sport is obtrusive and uncomfortable, yet he isn't fat or anything
9:looking at mid 20's range for a certified/pre owned.

I was thinking maybe an A6? I know they should be good in snow, but i'm not 100% sure on the trunk space and ease of entry/exit.

Personally, I think an SUV would be good since they're easier to get in and out of,good in snow, and can haul lots of kit, but he hates suvs.

Any advice/help would be appreciated!

THanks in advance!

What about a CUV? Rav4 or Rx350 but rx350 won't be in the mid 20's. RAV4 would do it.

I'd second an LS but if he doesn't want to spend that kind of cash it sounds like he wants a Buick Lacrosse.

LS is a little expensive. ease of entry exit/ and trunk size are key.

The A6 sounds like a perfect choice, if you can get it under 30K. Talking about the 06 on up.

What's his price bracket? The new 535i would be a good choice, as the bolstering is supportive but supposedly much less obtrusive, and the trunk space has been significantly improved. An LS wouldn't be a bad choice especially for the money, but I'm not a fan at all. To a non-enthusiast I'm sure it'd be a fine choice. The A6/A8 would be worth looking at for sure. Maybe an XF or if he has the money just call it a day and buy an XJ.

Just saw the price bracket at the bottom...I'd look at a used GS350 or an outgoing E Class.

NHSTA reported that the unintended acceleration accidents in toyotas were actually caused by driver error stepping on the wrong pedals, so unless your father in law is a idiot, he should be fine.

Funny that there hasn't been the same amount of media coverage announcing this as there was bashing Toyota.

The media and governments got what they needed done and propped up GM for their own benefit at the expense of Toyota.

But, there was a real defect though. While the majority appears to be driver error, the defect in the accelerator pedal was very real which Toyota did try to hide.

So the scrutiny was still valid.
