2010 997tt Pdk 1/4

This guy is over on 6speed. Stock car.

2010 Turbo with PDK turns 10.95 at Englishtown

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The weather was hot (87 degrees)and sticky. My car spun all 4 wheels until I hit third gear. Time was 10.95 at 126 MPH.
Fastest car at Englishtown Cruise night. I was only allowed one run. With lower rear tire pressure and cooler weather, I should be in the mid 10's.

yup that is a quick ass car, but not mind blowing given the current offerings. Hell 2-3 years ago a stock Z06 was in the 10's w a higher trap speed on runflats.

^ Totally agree.

You pay for the P but dang it has awesome speed, comfort, built like a tank and pretty good MPG.

IMO the near perfect DD supercar.

The Englishtown is well known as the place to set fast times. By far the quickest track on the east coast and possibly in the U.S. Alledgedly the track has a few degrees of downhill slope and the position of the starting line almost guarantees a tail wind.

That said, that is one fast car.

This is an AWD, 500 hp 3500 lbs car. Name me another car with those stats that can run high 10s and trap 126-128. No matter which way you slice it, its one of the fastest production cars out there, and then theres the turbo S and GT2 and incoming GT2RS.
the z06 doesn't have awd, pdk. i think those two are what make up the times on the turbo. especially with so much torque and power on the z06, the rear tires will just spin on launch even with 325 rear tires. the same reason why the gtr is so fast on launch. the vette is still very impressive to me given that it run on POS run crab and RWD only.

am a bit surprise that the 997.2 turbo is still the same or slower than the gtr on the tracks which were tested by different mags recently. Given the blistering stop light acceleration, I though it would demolish the gtr on the track, but it didn't. in this case the turbo also has awd, 400lbs lighter, pdk, more hp/tq but still not faster than the gtr on the track. i think the real winner here is the gtr in performance given that it is 2 years older, much heavier, and much cheaper. here is a vid for proof. I have seen similar result in other mags such as motor trend as well. seems like porsche still haven't figure nissan out yet.

Man, your not the only who was surprised. Everybody thought that it would but alas, GTR defies physics

The GT-R is one incredible car for the money. With that said, I would not own one because it does not suit my tastes at all.

Even with the new ride setting, 11' model, it is supposedly still a rough ride. Probably like the Porches with the shock setting activated in sport/sport plus. All the video game wizardry is a definite do not want for me personally.

For the money the fit and finish are on par but not many cars can compete with Porsche.

The Nissan has a huge following as does Porsche. It's nice to have all these super fast cars to choose from but give me the P everyday.

Not to judge a car by looks alone but I can't get myself to like the looks of the Nissan.

The GT-R still amazes me as a performance machine. I can understand not liking its styling or questioning its pedigree, but there is NO doubt that it is a true supercar in every way (except in price that is)....

Jamie Furman is not a pro drag racer.

see here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...-1-4-mile.html

10.98 @ 129mph on factory run craps. 10.83 @ 130mph on DR's all else stock. For half the price of the Porsche.

or for something newer his new ZR1: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...oes-again.html

10.79 @ 132.2 all stock

He's not a pro, but he's DAMNED good. Been in his cars, took him for a ride in my e36 turbo the day Donovan ran the US record for a BMW. He thought my car was a mid 120 trap car last year.....we'll see eventually.

Only 2.2 mph trap difference between the Z06 and the ZR1? Hm..something's not right here. That particular Z06 sounds like a freak of nature. 130mph is a really high trap.

well to be fair, the 130mph for the Z06 was on DR's in a perfect conditions.

But yes, there are freakish Z06's out there. In the right conditions they can put down some blistering trap speeds. I'm sure the ZR1 will too w DR's and cool temps on a well prepped track.

Damn that car moves.. Its nice to read little technical articles of the GTR vs everything else in the world. But put it on a street and do a 60-130 roll vs the Porsche and it wont even be close...
