iOS4 Thoughts
For those with a 3GS and have upgrade, what are you thoughts?
I'm personally very disappointed over a basic 3.X, I would admit it's a great improvement (especially the multitasking) but when compared to a customized 3.X (for example, the way I set up my own 3.1.2 jailbroken iPhone), I feel it falls short Particularly the loss of SBSettings and Lockinfo for me Having to actually unlock the phone to read email/delete junk/etc can get some getting used to... and not being able to turn bluetooth/wireless on/off on the fly will get annoying fast I know the dev team has jailbroken it and are just about to finish it, but nonetheless... at this point I went back to 3.1.2. How about you guys?

I put it on my 3g yesterday.
It is laggy as fuck and completely not worth it on a 3G... perhaps the 3Gs can actually run it fast enough, but not on an old 3g. The email threading is cool, but laggy menus/laggy navigaion/just plain laggy performance is a FAIL imo. |

I just upgraded my 3G and haven't noticed much lag, but I haven't used it much yet.

i upgraded to ios4 jailbroke and unlocked on a 3g and there is a slight noticable delay when opening anything... maybe the 3gs has no lag but on a 3g i do...
but i can't complain on the overall package of the ios4 so the small delay is no biggie.

Yep, little more lag, but the threading emails is handy and saves me from going directly to the gmail page. I'm in the second round of deliveries for the 4g, so not too worried about it.

My jailbroken 3GS runs nearly as seemless as always, I'm running SBSettings, 5icon dock/columns, glasklart icons, backgrounder (I think those are the ones always running and that would have an effect on performance)
The only thing really affected is battery life but hell I knew the battery wasn't very good before I bought it, so not very surprising. Also sometimes when charging the phone gets very hot, but I've heard of this in non JB phones as well so not sure what to make of it. Overall still happy with, can't wait till my sister gets her 4 so I can compare |

I've been on it for a few months. It's nothing special. Most stable OS I've ran on the iPhone though so I love that. Now that devs are incorporating the new APIs you can start enjoying the new features.

it actually made the homescreen on my 3g smoother (going between pages etc. has a better frame rate) but yeah the menus are laggy :/

like everyone else is saying menus and windows are kind of laggy on my 3gs. But I do enjoy being able to play pandora and use safari at the same time. Hopefully apple puts out an update and fixes the lag.

i got it just for two day interim before i get the iphone 4, but it has no lag on my 3gs and i did notice a better battery life today. the folders are really nice, the multi tasking is nice too, and maybe i'm just going crazy or something, but i could've sworn the phone calls were clearer.

I don't think it's that drastic to compare what a phone comes like from Apple to what it is capable of doing...people are interested in what their phones are capable of, and iOS4 seems in many ways to be an attempt to level the iphones capabilities with competitors and with JB iphones, so why not compare the two? They are both free upgrades

I dont think apple is trying to beat any competitor, im sure apple is well aware of its fan base and is basicaly giving people just enough to have them buy it. Do you guys honestly think if apple wanted they couldn't put anything and everything into the iphone? Look at the Ipad, if microsoft made something with such limited capabilites it wouldn't be nearly as successful. Ever since apple came out with the first Ipod, ppl basicaly buy anything they make, and all competitors know that which is why if they even want to compete they have to offer a lottt more.
With that being said.. IPhone 4 arrives tomorrowww..
