dumbest drivers ranked by state
This is interesting, everyone thinks their state has the dumbest drivers. Now we have some sort of idea who's right.

GA is too bad! Our driving test brought the points down. Is it by state driving test or the polls test? Our test in Georgia has some fucking weird questions.

Ranking is total crap: WA is #11 on the list? Based on how poorly people drive around here, there is no way I believe my state is any where near the top 10.

The sample size here appears to be statistically significant. For a population of 307,006,550 with a 2% margin of error, to achieve 99% confidence in the results would require a sample size of 4,160. The survey in question has a sample size of 5,202. Whether or not you agree with the questions posed in the survey is another matter.

True, but the basis for "stupid drivers" appears to be heavily skewed towards the pass/fail rate of the test, and the average test score. To me, those are more "academic" measures of someone's driving ability, not necessarily their skill in actually operating the car. I have a pretty good handle on the process for creating a brick wall, but in actual application, not so much. Also, the rest of the questions are based on individual responses, which may or may not be 100% truthful. However, I think if they took this data and then combined it with crash and ticket statistics, total miles driven plus total licensed drivers, a different pattern may emerge. Something that levels the playing some, such as "tickets per 100,000 drivers" or "tickets per 100,000 miles" or crashes, fatalities, etc.

Sample of questions that I remember from when I was 15. What speed can you hydroplane. How old do kids have to be to sit in a booster/ child seat/ normal seat/ front seat. How many seconds should you wait at a stop sign before driving ahead... Ga has some gay ass questions. |

I usually find Midwest drivers to be more likely to hog the left lane. Michigan drivers are especially bad about that. New England/New York drivers are more likely to drive way too fast for the conditions and weave in and out. Of course the traffic conditions in those two places are very different. I've done little driving west of the Mississippi, so I can't comment on western state drivers.
American drivers in general can be annoying. I spent 3 years driving in Germany and rarely got angry at another driver. Germans take driving (and drivers ed) very seriously.
