New M3 Owner here

Hi everyone, I just picked up my first M3 today. It's '09 Alpine white, coupe, 6500 miles. It looks like it just drove off the showroom floor! I've been searching around and reading on stuff here for the last few days or so, trying to see where people start their modifications. I'm planning on starting on the 12v supplies up front. I couldn't believe that there wasn't one up front, I went to move all my stuff from the trade-in and there was no place to plug in my escort 9500. WTF is up with that? You would figure they would have at least one in the front, even if the owner is not going to be a smoker, every one of my cars has a 12v point up front.

I'm planning on doing some minor A/V stuff, cameras, hopefully an exhaust, wheels and make it a little lower in the rear. Some smart and talented people on here! Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Anyway, i just wanted to introduce myself. So here I am, I look forward to talking with you guys.

Ry

^What he said. The one you want to use is in the compartment in front of the shifter on an '09.

Congrats on the new ride.

I think I remember reading that some of the 2009 models came with the "smoker package" as an option for a short period of time. The standard was a compartment rather than ashtray/lighter. I recently had a 2009 335i loaner that had a compartment rather than ashtray and lighter. My 2010 came standard with ashtray/lighter....smoker package was not an option.

Search the forums for installation guides on perm install of Escort using fuse box in glove compartment. Lots of good info.

I don't recall that being an option on my '09. It came standard with a lighter and ashtray up front, but I wish it hadn't. Some forum members have retrofitted their ashtrays to be sunglass holders, and I may go down that route eventually.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Soon you too will grow sick of how much fun this car is. Or not.
