Scraping on driveways?

So I just moved to South Carolina and I was wondering how you guys do it. Every driveway is pretty steep. The ones that lead to like the shopping malls and the grocery stores. How do you drive in without scraping your front bumpers. Or does it just look really steep. I dont have my car yet. I am waiting for it to arrive at the port, but I am scarred I will mess up my front bumper on every driveway here in the states. In Europe was never a need to pay so close attention to stuff like that, but this here seems horror for me....

That felt box is annoying. Sometimes it sounds like I'm destroying my car in the front but when I get out to check the damage it's little to none, weird.

As noted by others there are a couple of black felt looking pieces that come out on the bottom of the front bumper that scrape. The nice part is they hit instead of the actual painted bumper, so the damage is not even really visible unless you crawl under the car. I have yet to scrape the painted underside of the bumper it has pretty good clearance.

Sport mode on EDC if you have it, go slow, hit it at an angle. But if it is crazy enough, you will still scrape. Hopefully it is far enough underneath that you only see it when the car is in the air.

I can't imagine you will have an issue if you are stock height. I didn't have any issues in So Cal in my corvette which is lower.

Houston is worse then socal and I don't have an issue in my vette and my friend doesn't have an issue in his M3

this is why i decided against lower my car. stock height is really too low for daily use. not sure about the new m, but i have never scratch mine and I drive around alot.

i thought the felt box actually helps because it will take most of the scrapes, while the actual bumper stays protected.

By the time you buy all new (3) felt covered pieces you could've nearly painted the whole front bumper... I'm just sayin'.

I'd much rather replace those felt pieces than paint a bumber. After market paint isn't as durable as OEM.

Just go at an angle and drive in really slowly. Also, use the Sport EDC as someone said earlier.

Resprays diminish resale value. Replacing the boxes doesn't.

Agree.

It's been so long that I've forgetten when, but long ago began to always back in to parking places which ended the occasional scrapping. The habit is so ingrained that I find myself doing that regardless of the vehicle.

I scrape all the time. I'm on my second set of underpanels and stupid felt boxes. I agree you always hear a crunch and than those things are the ones that take the impact

If you're supre paranoid you can just back in and out of ramps for the rest of your life hahaha

Thats the purpose of the felt. Get the "impact" and protect the rest of the bumper. It's made of a material that it's not supposed to crack.
