E90 vs E92 front space

I test drove an E90 on friday and being used to my brother's E92 I was surprised to feel a bit more cramped inside. Is it just me (or a bad seat adjustment) but is there more front space in the coupe?

The doors are larger on the coupe, and thus, the entrance to the front compartment is smaller.

I am surprised by the insignificant difference in rear seat leg room. The sedan looks like it has signifcantly more legroom.

In terms of overall length, the sedan is actually shorter.

I know, but visually it just looks bigger back there. Perhaps the lack of shoulder room in the back makes the back look much smaller. I believe the numbers, but my eyes thought otherwise. Thanks for the info, guys.

..., taller (1.4"), and wider (1.1") which probably doesn't hurt its prospects for being slightly roomier.

Yes, it's the width. And the flat shape of the rear bench makes it seem bigger.

I've had both E92 and E90 and legroom is virtually the same.

I believe the E90 is 1.4" taller only because the fin (sitting on relatively higher rear roofline) makes it so. I believe the actual high point on the roofline is virtually the same.

While not certain, I believe the E90 front headroom of 38.5" includes moonroof while the E92 headroom of 38.4" does not. Picture with dimensions in back of 2009 M3 catalog shows E90 with moonroof (front view) and E92 without.
