car wash experience
I was at the touchless car wash last week. After the powerful spray of water. My RPM starts to fluctuate. The engine starts shaking a little and feels like its going to stall. But then its fine after I drive it home.
Has anyone experience this before?

The engine was sucking in soap and water, through the air intake ducts right behind the grill. This is not very good for the engine. Next time turn it off while the spray is on, or risk damaging the engine.

Yikes, why was it running during the wash?
How was the wash anyway? Where did you go, Shell/Esso/etc? Which type of wash did you get? Worth it, does it get the car clean? |

lol you should turn the car off... and those touchless washes suck for the shadowline trim. the soaps they use are so strong it leaves this weird oily looking residue on it which is a bitch to clean off. but then again if you get it hand washed somewhere they'll swirl up your clear coat so i guess the only way to do it is to wash it yourself =(

I went to Sunoco. Got the top of the line wash with wax and all. The car was clean after the wash. But I don't think I'll go back again because water spraying into the intake. Thanks for all advice..

Is it only Sunoco that asks you to turn it off? I go to a Simoniz touchless in Mississauga and I just keep it in neutral - as instructed. No problems.

don't forget about that sweet little Rest button on your climate control which lets you keep the heat on while the engine's off...seems like it would come in pretty handy for a winter car wash

Just had my car hand washed today. So happy, I forgot how gorgeous it was (and what colour it was).
For the Montrealers, I went to Steve's on St-Jean Blvd. in the west. Job was okay, don't go if you're seriously obsessed with your car's paint. I'm planning on polishing in the spring since mine's already swirled up, so I didn't mind the extra rubbing by all those cloths. |
