Increase number of flashes - Triple Turn Signal

Hello all,
The Triple Turn Signal function on our car is great. However, 3 flashes for lane change is usually too short for me. Is there a way to increase the number of flashes? Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is. I would like 5 flashes for me.

If you press the lever down, doesn't the signal just stay on? So three flashes if you tap it down, keeps flashing if tapped into place, correct?

right, it does stays on when you pass the detent. but personally I found the lever is kinda hard to press all the way down/up compare to E46, Mercedes, Audi, or other Japanese cars. yea I wish it could flash more than 3 times...

Ok, just thought I was going crazy. I completely agree, the unit has much more resistance then other cars I have driven.

Just lean on it for as long as you want it to flash...or as others have said press it down past the resistance point for a constant signal. Triple turn signal is best suited for lane changes at triple digits...

I have it on triple signal, but wish the triple signal was the first detent, as sometimes I don't need 3. And a second detent constant. I'm fine being a bit hard, so you don't mistakenly activate them, like on my Honda. Another weird feature is the stalk returning to the middle when activated, but I don' mind .

Don't own an m3 (but have owned an e90 328 and e92 335) and the number of flashes is an option in those cars (can select 3, 5, or 7). I don't have nav on my 328 but the menu can be reached in the settings menu through scrolling, and the 335 did have nav and the setting was changeable in the idrive menu.

The triple signal is on the first detent

Three is long enough for me.... If I need long I just hit it once more and have 6. If it's going to be necessary for more, or I know I'll definitely need to hit it at least twice I'll go to the second detent where it stays on.

I like the feature but would also prefer 4 or 5 flashes instead of 3. This would be an easy software update if BMW chose to do so.

Kind of stupid to make abrupt lane changes on multi-lane highways when there is a lot of traffic. It doesn't leave time for other drivers to react.

I would gladly ditch 1 flash in place of 5. I often feel rushed with only three blinks.

Use your whole left hand and grab that stick and use a lot of force to push it up or pull it down hard to make it stay when you want it to stay on...

Either way I think its just something else the M owners can complain about.
If it had five to seven flashes stock that would be too many and they would want less

Four, oh no thats way too many.

But really only in the US this is the country with the worst drivers I've ever been in where someone basically wants you to send them an email and let them know its okay to change lines or follow lines exactly as drawn etc etc

You're right about drivers in this country, but you're missing the point... Any number you want, including none, should be configurable in Idrive, then nobody would have anything to complain about, regardless of how petty it is.

True, or you can just add a resistor to make it read like a bulb out error and make it flash fast as hell and non stop

But I get it everything is configurable in iDrive minus something that is so simple

Agree completely. It also gives CHP/local PD and excuse to call it a dangerous lane change.

Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining
