Just picked up an 08 M3 DCT Coupe
So I took the dive into BMW world and picked up a 08 M3 DCT coupe. I had a couple hours driving it home and WOW what a ride. Very nice car! I had a 2001 Vette years ago and I must say that this is a step above.
Now for the MOD questions... - Where can I pickup a Driver&Passenger interior brushed metal door strips? Is someone selling any? - Who sells a carbon fiber or black DCT shift knob? - The driver's seat belt arm doesn't push the belt to my shoulder... the passenger side works perfect. The silver hook seems to be broken internally. Can I just turn those off? I don't have iDrive. - Will the Magnaflow exhaust give me a more american heavy V8 sound? Thanks! |

You can pick up the aluminum trim from getbmwparts.com or send a PM to: Jason@Tischer
and he will sort that out for you. The seat belt arms can be de-activated if you pull the proper fuse in the glove box. |

One of the benefits of spending so much and buying a close to new car, is that you can take it back when it breaks. Your seatbelt arm does not need dis-engaged, u just need to take it back and ask for it to be fixed :-)
Enjoy the car I have an Arctic white 08 dct myself, love it! RW |

Seat belt arm is easy to fix. Mine would get stuck once in a while, so I found the way to push it back in nicely and it works fine after that.
Also, seat belt arm activated by a sensor in seat, if you open the door from outside but don't get in, the seat doesn't detect body weight and doesn't activate the arm.

I am not sure that might first thought upon realizing my seat belt extender was not working properly would be to deactivate the system. I would think in a car that is still under warranty I would take it right in to the dealership and ask them to please repair it. In fact, for me it wold not matter if it were under warranty or not-I would have it fixed. Good luck with your car.

Thanks guys!
I dropped it off at the dealership and they fixed the seatbelt arm under warranty. The shifter had paint scratched off from the previous owner's ring and it's on order under warranty coverage. A pair of metal strips are on order for about 200 bucks. To top it off... the lady at the cashiers desk had huge boobs ! Good service, car is ok, and tiggles!!! My kind of day! |

Many time I just open the door, sit down in the drivers seat and touch the start button once to turn on the radio. Almost always the passenger seat belt extender will extend. The drivers side doesn't. As someone once posted, those things have a mind of their own. Even in the Bentley Publishers service manual for E90 series, it mentions the fact that the extenders will act differently at all times. Seems like its just another quirk in the BMW line of vehicles. |

Warranty
You do have warranty I'm hoping, which means you should bring the car to detail & just list all the things you think are wrong w/t the car and let them fix it .. 1 by 1. It wont take forever to get everything fixed.
Remember if you've got an ECU flash back it up before you go to the dealer. They upload a fresh flash every time I go in.. Good luck and enjoy.. hope your enjoying that gearbox, get double clutch system out there. __________________ Quote:

I had similar issue... the seatbelt arm wouldnt come out when open passenger door. Brought the car into service with this issue, and SA started laughing, told me about sensor in seat... then he sat in passenger seat and seatbelt arm came out. Problem was solved.
