Hood opening seal

Hey guys, my friend has a 08 M3 E92 and he recently took his car in for service and afterward he noticed they change one of the rubber seals on his hood openings the opening on the passenger side. Before it did not have a little hole for water to go through, but the new seasl has a new hole for water to go through and into the engine. This has him a little worried. Anyone have an 08 with a problem with this? They gave him the newer 09 seal, he's just worried that the the under the hood placement of things is a little different between the 08 and the 09 and the newer seal with the hole might affect his 08 car.

I'm pretty sure mine has a hole to allow water to drain as well. Plus, I highly doubt there are any changes in the placement of engine components between the '08 and '09 models.

All have it dude, but it's angled to the rear. It's a rectangular ('[', but rotated -90º) flap you can feel with your fingernail. And yes, water drips onto the engine, but barely .

The water does drain through the slits in the passenger side hood seal and onto the engine, but BMW placed that plastic piece over top of the coils so the water hits that and then heads toward the headers and the ground.

Is there any aftermarket hood that's made with only the functional vent and not the tacky fake one?

I'm sure you can have your local body shop fill in the non-functioning vent and repaint the hood for cheaper than an aftermarket one.

I just figured there may be a lighter hood without the vent so I can kill two birds with one stone.
