Helppp!!!!!!

I been hearing this loud thump while I'm driving the M from time to time for about 2 days now. Today after work i was pulling out of the parking and heard one of the loudest thump noises and now every time i change gears you hear it very loud. The sound seems to be coming from the rear of the car, so when i got home i checked the rear of the car and heard something rattling like if it was loosening. i moved the car up a couple feet and when i go to check i found a screw rolling around the floor. Has anyone had this problem and suggestions or help pleaseeee!!!! Very bad way to start off the new year

I'm sure you're looking for something more than "take it to the dealer" but that's the best I can come up with.

Whatever this "noise" is isn't normal, and it sounds like the drive train based on what you're describing. I wouldn't drive it for safety reasons first and second I wouldn't want to possibly do more damage. As for the screw...what it is and where it came from...no way to do that online and certainly no way w/o a picture.

You're not planning on trying to diagnose and fix this yourself are you? So why screw around with it? If it's clunking that bad have it flatbedded to the dealer and let them deal with it. That's what warranties are for...

Lastly, a thread title that's a bit more descriptive would get more interest/replies...e.g. something like "Car is making loud clunking noises from rear end--help". Out of 47 views I'm the first to comment and that's probably no accident (I'm bored and can't sleep hence I'm posting). Just a friendly suggestion for the future...

Yup, insomniacs everywhere agree. Take it to the dealer and don't drive it until they figure it out.

Let us know what they find.
