Where do you buy your furniture? Suggestions?
This obviously applies to our older members who are a little more "settled." Not saying you can't be settled when you're young, but I was buying hot pink "flip-n-fucks" at Target when I was in college.
Anyway, we shop mostly at Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and that's it. I like C&B the most because of the more modern look. But I don't like the SUPER modern look with like crazy pointy red chairs and glass everything. Anyone have any other suggestions? There are a few cool modern furniture places local to me too, but just wondering if I'm missing a cool chain. I like clean, modern, simple, with dashes of bright color. Thanks!

Most populated areas have at least a few good furniture stores that fit anyones tastes. IMO you should look at a few of those.
From what you're describing you may want to check out a few Scandinavian furniture stores (They might not be listed as such). The low end of that style would be ikea or something similar. The high end will vary location to location. The higher end is harder to find but definitely out there. There is on by me that I particularily like named Copenhagen. I absolutely love a few of their items but you could easily spend well over 15k on a diningroom set. Edit: Here's their website. Some of it will be too modern but some of it might be a good match. While they aren't in your area but you might be able to find a few pieces you like and then call around to find them locally. http://www.copenhagenliving.com/ . I'm renting, and only small timer furniture, but my first real piece of furniture is going to be an eames lounge

It's really no different than anything else in life. You could make that very same argument about the cost of nice cars. |

We are big fans of mission style (furniture, you perverts!), and if that's your thing Stickley is the way to go. They are very collectable. I call it "furniture your children will fight over when you're dead". I've got a couple of pieces that are almost 100 years old and they still make something very similar.
STICKLEY They do other styles, as well, including Mid-Century Modern (Protfolio120) All handmade in the US of A (upstate NY). Unbelievable quality. Comes at a price, though. |

Pottery Barn
Room and Board Crate and barrel sometimes too The way i look at it, better to spend more and get long lasting furniture of good quality then buy and have to replace, almost spending the same over the years but living with junk furniture |
