Creaking coming from the rear

I got the coupe and I have this constant creaking from the rear. Whenever I have a passengers occupying the rear passenger side, it goes away. Could the creaking be in the seat itself? If anyone knows please help as it's driving me crazy!

I get that too. It's annoying. Sometimes it appears, sometimes it doesn't. I can't pinpoint the exact location, but it sounds like it's coming from the back seat.

I had the same issue on my Z4, but that was more pronounced.

Could be this

"I developed a love/hate relationship with the M3 after tooling around Southern California," notes senior editor Edward Loh. "I do love the shocking acceleration; this thing embarrasses many true sports cars not just from a light, but from 60 mph on the freeway. Hit the M button, mash it, and you're gone -- just remember to pull back on the right paddle or you'll bang into the limiter in about 1.5 seconds."

And the hate part? "Over speed bumps, in and out of driveways, any motion that puts torsional stress on the chassis induces a creaking noise from the back seat. I also find the seven-speed DCT lacking. Slow-speed, second-gear crawls seem to confuse it, especially if you need to accelerate from said crawl (as in a merging situation)-can't do it smoothly. You either get neck-snapping acceleration or barely any speed

I gave a sedan with no fold down seats. No creaks whatsoever and I think it's because things are a little more rigid w/o fold down seats.

Wow... is this the small creak from the rear passenger area? Not sure if it's the same but I heard that a few times when I was stuck in traffic and moving slowly and stopping slowly.

I think it's from the rear seat latches. I get it occasionally, but it always goes away after I lower and close the back seats.

I have been dealing with this since day 1 of owning the car. I actually found that my sound seemed to be coming from the third brake light cover. Since I removed that, there has been no creaking. The sound was not always there, but more often than not and especially in warm weather/sun. The only sound is a rubbing one from the seats when they are cold. Sometimes the seats seem to rattle as well, and when people are sitting back there, it of course does not happen, and if the service technician is in for a ride-a-along, the car is perfect. Hopefully someone fixes this for good!

So should I just drop down and re-latch my seats? What else could it be? Is there anything on the rear decklid that could rattle? Perhaps the rear headrests?

Mines actually a rattling too. The chassis itself feels stiff it's just what's inside the cabin that seems to be rattling...

The rattle sounds like a rear shelf issue. I had it and got it fixed up with some foam a the dealer. I think there is a TSB out on it for non-M E9x cars.

. Same here, but need to start tackling them buddy. I want to start with the most annoying noises, which are coming from the dash area. Next would be the left door one, since it's right on my left ear, and can hear it even with the stereo. Geez. I also thought these cars were better put together. Wasn't expecting Lexus quiet, but man, even my lowly Accord coupe only had one creaking issue (on the rear shelf, no less), which I fixed with Teflon wax spray. Good day.

I have a light creaking sound coming from the rear whenever I go up on driveways at an angle (i.e. whenever the frame twists under stress), and a light rattle from the steering column or dash area that makes noise around 900RPM during cold starts.

Don't do that. Ignorance is bliss when it come to rattles and creaks. Once you hone in on one it can become very annoying.
