After tiring of the spring/fall tire changeovers with little snow & ice in my area, I put a set of all-season Toyo Proxes 4s on my DD E46 a few months ago. So far they are giving a very good ride, good handling, no noise and and a slightly heavier steering feel compared to the Conti SportContact 2s they replaced. The price for four 225/45/17 tires was below $600 including mounting, balancing, valve stems & 6% state tax.

I actually installed a set of R888s a couple of weeks ago in an effort to avoid changing tires for Solo II. Turns out they suck as street tires (heavy, stiff and LOUD - way louder than the old RA1) and they suck as autoslalom tires, too (sloooow turn in, sloppy at the limit and way down on grip compared to an actual slalom tire).
Every Toyo I've tried (some old mud lugs on my GMC pick-up, the OEM Proxes that came on my Miata, T1S, T1R and RA1) has the same 'problem' - they're not bad tires, but they're just not very good tires either. They will, however, wear like iron. If you all you need is something average, jump on a deal - just be aware that you'll likely have them a long time.

I have R1R's and love them. They look awesome, and are very sticky... I was able to get 1.9 60' times with only two passes when I went to the track. I probably could have got 1.8's if I had one more pass. This was also without a burnout and running 36lbs (I didn't air down)... They are noisy, but that doesn't bother me a bit. Rain, I drive slow so I can't comment on their capabilities...
Pics in the link below. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...hlight=M3+reps Good luck...

If you are looking for a dedicated track tire only, then the RA1 and R888 would be good tires to look into. -Charles@VMRWheels |

I use T1r for street, and R888 for track and im wery happy with both. The R888 is wery noisy on the street, but that is no problem for me.
I do realy need more than the stock camber in front to wear the R888 close to even on the track tho..

RA1 have monster grip. Tire of choice among many hardcore racers. I wouldn't use them as dd though.
