Sun roof not working

I brought my one in for yet another popped run flat and an oil change. I go to pick up my car round midnight cause i had work and there are no floor mats in car...WTF. I go back the next day and get the floor mats. Everything was cool on the drive home, then the next day I start my car up and i get a warning message in the dash about a sun roof malfunction. I try to open the sunroof and nothing happens. I try to close the sunroof and it opens, but does not go open all the way so i start messing with the sunroof button and long story short i cant get the sunroof closed right now. Has this ever happened to anyone? Bringing it to BMW tomorrow, i am going to try and swindle them into giving me a 1 keychain for having to back my one two days in a row, you like my chances?

Better yet, ask them for the Allen wrench to allow you to close the Sunroof manually.

Our 328xit did the same thing. The fix was to push the sunroof button and hold it for about three minutes. The sunroof then slowly cycled through all possible positions and then closed. It has been OK for several months now.

There are currently at least 2 threads on this topic, search please!
Hold the tilt button for 30-60 seconds. The sunroof will go through a reprogramming cycle. It happened to me and several others, it's no big deal.
Hope this saves you a trip to the dealer.

I think telling people to search is just ridiculous. Do you think that your kind comment will make them in the future say "hey I should search like that nice person reminded me". Why not give them the info and say "hey I found this by using these search terms" its much more constructive.

Totally agree. I laugh at all the people who say -- there are several threads on this you should have searched. What a waste of their time.

Take it to the garage! Sure you know how to fix it but you really, really want the $20 keychain right? Besides - they forgot the mats too! Aaaaargh! Make that TWO keychains AND the allen wrench!
