09 Reliability improvement? And a question....

It seems the great majority of owners on this board are 08 owners... would the 09 owners say they have had minimal trips to the dealer? I am hearing some horror stories about the 08s... faulty fuel pumps, 3rd brake light coming off, radio crapping out, ecu going crazy for no reason, etc...

Anyone care to enlighten? BTW my 1-er has a build date of 08/08... would I be the 29.2 software or the newer 30 series?

I think it's important for you to know that we share information on this site as a preface of potential things that could go wrong, not necessarily that our cars are POS's... with any new generation or series, there will be kinks that need to be worked out.... i.e. the 3rd brake light was orignally a known Z defect and it's not difficult to replace. You might be reading into these posts too much, don't get too scared on us- you ordered a good car.

Just as an FYI; I believe you will have the 30, but if you happen to get the 29, it can be updated at your first service to 30- just keep in mind that once you update you can't go back to another version.

i have also worried about purchasing a 135i, thinking that if the HPFP doesn't die while i have the warranty, will i be stuck paying the expensive bill even though it's probably a design flaw? (when the warranty ends)

go over to N54tech.com and talk to terry (the creator of the JB products). tell him what build date you have, and he'll tell you what your best bet is.
