No 1 Series M Model planned, but there will be a Sport model

Just read from the Chicago auto show that the 1series will not get a M designation, but there are plans to make a sport model that is 200 pounds lighter with the back seat removed, more Carbon Fiber, a lighter AC system, larger brakes, different syspension. No mention of additional tweeks.

Hmm, sounds like M-series car, albeit, the lighter weight!

No idea. The write up that I pulled the info from was todays Automotive Section in the Chicago Tribune.

Some luxuries will be removed.. I hope it wont be too much, since most of us would like to have this as daily driver..

If no structural framework is being touched I don't see any reason to buy the new one versus me tearing down my 135i myself.

They have to keep up with the Jones. I'm glad they're willing to up the performance ante, even if it's not a no-holds bared M.
