sound insulating engine hood

does removing this make the car any louder? if anyone has removed it how much loude?

instead of that, if you got an intake that would make the engine louder. then, if you got an exhaust, that would make the exhaust louder so then you've got engine/exhaust sound improvement and a little boost in power.

true true, but while those two options will run you roughly 800$ a piece, you could just remove the engine cover which is free.

I know you're no longer looking at doing this, but for the rest:

I think that insulation is actually heat insulation. so that the motor doest cook the paint off the top of the hood.

at least i'm pretty sure that's what it's for.

Some 1s have it, some don't. Search, its been talked about to death. Does not make the car noticeably louder.

then hold off on the exhaust and get the injen cai for about $475 from bavarianx.com - that could be all you need.

My 135 did not come with the hood liner and it sounds the same as the ones had.

Yes it makes it noisier, and also it protects from under hood temps that can prematurely age the top of the hood paint.
