I'm not sure I should have done this...
okay - this is going to sound newbie dumb - but I'm at a T-intersection with a blind approach to my right and a hilltop to the left. So I need a fast takeoff: I hit the DTC and shift over into DS and then accelerate hard left onto my road.
The take off was insanely cool, Less fun was the distinctly chemical smell coming from my car for about 5 minutes after ... Oh man ...... what did I do???? Did I break her?

when my E93 335 was new, it would get that smell after very hard driving.

** phew ** I feel a little bit better ... I thought I had done something I wasn't supposed to do - I'm not trying to break my baby after only 2 weeks!! Actually - I'm still under 1200 miles so I shouldn't be screwing around...but I couldn't help it!

Yeah burning clutch is unpleasant to say the least It's a really distinct smell - not at all like burning brakes... Nor sizzling flesh when you decide to do the 'finger test' on them

I took my 1er for it's first longish ride the other day and smelled something funny when I put it back in the garage. Probably some type of coating on the under carridge or something.

Might the smell be the brakes? If i read correctly you went to the 2nd stage of traction control? So the brakes still kick in to help with slip and slide just not as soon. I know when i get new pads and druing the beed in process they smell.

Well - it hasn't come back - but honestly I haven't beaten on her after that one time either.

If it's still very low miles that is normal. Every new car I've bought has had that burning smell out of the engine bay for a least a few hundred miles. from what I've heard, it's the moly assembly grease they use on factory built engines that takes awhile to burn off.

You'll be okay, the SACHS clutches are very good units, just don't make a habit in doing that often.

My car has just over 2k miles and last night I did some WOT intense driving (120mph+) with some pretty hard breaking.. When I got home and out of my car it smelled so bad, now 6 hours later, I can still smell it strong when I stand next to the car! Should I be concerned at all ?
