What's the degree at which you decide to go top down?
I feel comfortable at 68F to 86F range.

Wow.....is this a real thread?
What temp do us tin toppers decide to open our sunroof? How loud do you choose to have your stereo? How fast do you typically drive? |

Use search, I've seen threads about stereo setting, or what kind of music you prefer in dependency on time of year or day. Loudness depends on type of music and speed and also taste of a passager.
Regarding top down I am interested in what kind of hat you wear if any?

Ummm...it was 23 degrees here today and my top was down. I guess I put it down on any morning that I walk outside and the top isn't frozen.

My 1 isn't a cab but, to answer your questions: - Yes, I don't believe I've seen a "fake thread" option - anything over 10C (50F) - Just over 18 clicks past inaudible if using the dial - According to my dash computer, averaging 55km/h (34mph) |

I'm the same as jotapeh but only if I remember to have my wind deflector in the back.
I don't do hats.

In my ragtop, it's not a matter of temperature, it's a matter of "Is it sunny?" I'm not the only Miata owner in Toronto that's taken a top down spin when the temp is well below freezing. That's what gloves and touques are for. Another good thread would be "How hard does it have to be raining before you put the top up?"

You buy topless because you want the top down. Down here in sunny South Florida, it is almost always a great time to drop the top.
As for stereo, yes, you DEFINITELY have to pay attention. I was driving along, had my IPhone in, and I had a song from Slipknot on pretty loud (not crazy loud, but loud enough), and after stopping at a red light, I just happened to check my peripheral vision to see EVERYONE around me looking with freaked out faces. Apparently, only cheesy hip-hop "production" music is allowed nowadays to be turned up. Do some heavy rock, nope! Oh well. I pay more attention now.

If it's not raining or snowing, my top is down. It's been down at 15º or so, but I have a windscreen so that I don't have to bundle up.

Getting a coupe this time. Have had several convertibles (Miata, MZ3, Lexus SC430). One the things I have told folks over there years when they ask this question. Remembering that here on the Gulf Coast, we only have a few freezes every year.
"I paid extra for a heater in this car, so I could drive with the top down in the winter." As I am getting older, I find the seat heaters, and gloves make a lot of difference too. |

I have both a cabrio MCS & a 135i...so when it's raining it's the ONE, when it's not it's a flip of a coin. I have been know to have the top down snowing, temp about 19F, heater & heated seats on, jacket, scarf, hat & gloves and driving like a bat out of hell. It's actually more fun than when the temp is 80F

I'm very spoiled living here in Florida. I generally drop mine 60 and above, IF ITS SUNNY. 60 at night is still too cold for me.
But, in the summer when the old fuddy-duddies complain about how "hot it is" you'll see me with the top down, even if its 90.

After going to Iraq, any temp is cool up to 115, so long as the wind is blowing and I have ice water. Drop top? Shoulda got one. :P
