I was so excited about the idrive option. It removes one of the cup holders, and as long as you throw away the "side car" one they give you in its place, you've just cut down on half the temptation for passengers to bring a drink. I wish there was a "delete" option for that second one.

Yes I'm being sarcastic, I realize that it holds passengers cell phones just fine.

McDonald's baby. But only once. Only once.

I'm really not too worried about the leatherette or the BMW All Weather mats in the bottom. In the summer when some of the carpet is exposed, I will be stricter.

That said, my gf's dog is NOT allowed on the seats. At all.

(btw who has wives plural? )

I get a Starbucks occasionally via a drive through but it's so close to work I usually don't get a chance to drink it until I get to the office.

Me too, except I eat a lot of hamburgers with extra ketchup and bbq sauce. Yum!

I was really joking......I made my gf cry when she put a smoothie on the roof and explained again about leaving rings on my paint.

I told her....."rings on the car = no ring on the finger"

Now she drinks only H2O

Then I apologized for being a d-ck

I avoid eating in the car most of the time, but if I'm on a trip and I'm trying to make up some time, I'll hit a drive through.

I do have drinks in the car a lot though. I'll have an orange juice in the car on the way to work in the morning, and bring a drink back from lunch on most days. I spend too much time in the car to do otherwise. I'm really not sure why people feel the need to ban drinks from a vehicle, at least when we're talking about adults. Worst case is a soda spill, which can be a PITA to clean up, but it can be done.

Yeah it's really hard to grab a cup out of the cupholder on a 12 hour interstate drive.

I never do or allow anyone else. Unfortunately, I have to park in NYC and hand the keys over to a valet. One morning I get my 1er and the arm rest is up...I look down and there are spill marks in the cup holder, on my ipod connector, and on my iDrive buttons. I was pissed and had some words with the manager. Of course they deny deny deny.

I don't have a 12 hour interstate drive, and haven't had a chance to take my 135 on an extended road trip yet. The question wasn't "would you" but "do you". Notice I didn't say anything about anyone else and their driving habits?

How many of those 34 vehicles did you put on a wrecker while "trying to make up some time" and stuffing in a Big Bacon Classic?

For the rest of you, no, I have no problem with a bottle of water, cup of coffee or can of Red Bull on a long haul. In the city, tho' you're just asking for a crumpled fender.

I eat all sorts of fast food, however I'm extraordinarily careful. But a few crumbs here and there to me is no different than accidentally tracking some dirt in; it's gonna happen no matter how careful you are. Oh and everyone is forbidden from eating while in motion, especially passengers. My girlfriend once tried to eat some baby carrots with ranch sauce while driving, and I wasn't very kind about it.

Oooh, that doesn't sound like it has anything to do with food or drink.

I do it to extend the life of that new car smell and new car cleanliness. People are clumsy, especially my wife with keeping stain-causing food and drink where they belong. I also have the luxury of not having to drive the 1er everyday so that makes my life easier.

I'd ban the wife from the car.

If you're using it as an weekender, it wouldn't be such a big deal I guess.
