When the range hits 0 miles (123d owners?)
So a quick question, when the range gets to 0 is that it? I should really check on a fill up that close to that how many litres go in knowing that my 123d has a 51l tank. I have always been paranoid and one time got to about 3 miles (yes motorway and I accidently missed a stop) and I was really really worried so would be delighted to know if there's much beyond the 0 mark. My dad got a new M3 when I got my 1er and he firmly believes that in his car the 0 mark is an honest 0 from other M3 forum users.
For those that are interested right now it has gone 430 miles since last fill up, and claims 85 to empty I love my 123d! Thanks, Tim

I have the 135i and have driven about 5 miles when the miles to empty display read --- (not 0 miles to empty it actually read ---) I was late for a dentist appt and couldn't find a gas station anywhere.

I drove 23 miles after the indicator read 0. I was also unable to find an open gas station, since it was late at night and in the middle of nowhere. Granted, I was economy driving to the extreme. I don't ever want to go through that kind of stress again... :P

I remember a last year I was in the States with my mom's X3 and couldn't find a gas station anywhere, and I was driving for over 15 minutes (economy city driving) after it reached 0 km left before I found a gas station.

Haven't gotten down to 0 yet. I did get to 3 after an unexpected snowstorm. I had 20 miles left and apparently spent 17 miles of fuel just trying to get into my driveway which was iced over (while the roads in general were not). It was the first storm of the year and caught me completely off-guard since I'm usually not in my home state where my car is. I got about 6 miles on the supposed 3 miles to the first gas station near my house. Didn't really wanna push my luck. But it's nice to know someone else got about 23 miles on "zero"..

few years back in an E36 M3 was driving on PA turnpike, simply forgot to fill up at the rest stop. Once the low-fuel warning came on we were a good 50 miles of mountainous highway from the destination. Finally coasted into Altoona, PA on fumes. OBC read -- at a point...went a good 15 miles past mystery "--"
Fortunately they seem to be pretty accurate, certainly more so than watercraft. I've been stranded a few times on my waverunner with gauge reading 1/4 tank. Now I take shorter rides. IMO...don't test it. |
